Fun and Frolics

Yikes, it is true what they “time flies by when you’re having fun”.

The last month has certainly been great fun, with the West End Craft Fair, lots of stripykat production and new product designing oh and of course the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe.

First of all though the fair went fantastically well and I got to meet so many lovely people I just wish I could be there every day. We set up on a very, very wet and windy Monday morning, so, I was confined to my stand all day due to the constant rain. Luckily the weather improved through the week and I am pleased to say the stripykat stand was bright and cheery so it caught everyone’s eyes along the way.

I was in an area called the Sun Trap, which it was when it appeared. The whole fair is situated in the grave yard of St Johns church on the corner of the famous Princes St in Edinburgh. I don’t know how the residents of the grave yard took to it all but it is a great place for people to pick up their early Christmas presents or treat themselves to a little piece of craft.

Tim kindly brought me my lunch every day, which was very much appreciated and it gave me a chance to have a wander round the other stalls and catch up on my shopping too.
Tim, as he has said, knows far too much about handbags for a heterosexual man and leaving him on the stall, it gave him chance to use his sales patter on unsuspecting individuals.

All the handmade bags and accessories were going like hot cakes, especially the buttons that constantly had a crowd round. So I am going to make lots more and also make some funky things from them….get my thinking cap on.
It was a fantastic way of speaking to the stripykat customer finding out what they like and what they want to see, so there are a few more products in the pipeline.

So, now the fun of the fair is over, I have been asked by the organisers to join them for their Christmas fair at the end of November in George St. Edinburgh. So back to the Bernina, give it a hug and a bit of oil and off we go again. I am on the look out for new fabrics too over the coming weeks, which I have to admit I am excited about I love shopping – doesn’t everyone?!

So between all this Tim and I managed to catch a few shows and spent last weekend out and about soaking up the atmosphere and people watching around the Festival. We even saw a few famous faces including Jimmy Carr and Marcus Brigstock.

Oh and the vegetable patch for all of you gardening fans went totally mad with everything growing a bit too much. We had some of our broccoli the other night and when it came to washing up after the feast we found a very fat caterpillar in the cullander. Yuk!!! Tim, looking on the bright side said well at least we didn’t find half a caterpillar in the cullander! Suppose he has a point.

Thank you to all for coming along to say hi, it was great to meet everyone and I look forward to seeing you at Christmas.

Until next time be good
Katie
