A very Happy New Year from stripykat, I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and an enjoyable New Year or Hogmanay as we call it in Scotland. I would like to say that I didn't have a hangover on the 1st of January, but I can't, and I doubt there are many people who don't. We brought in 2010 at the Edinburgh street party along with a 100,000 other people. Armed with a bottle of bubbly to pop at midnight we watched the amazing fireworks that never disappoint.

Our Christmas was great fun, after recovering from the seasonal flu that inevitably comes my way this time of year, we spent a lovely day with our family and I managed to gauge the amount of vegetables I required to peel and chop for us, so we haven't been eating vegetable soup for the last week. Santa too was very kind, from exquisite smelling bath bombs to inspirational gardening books, horse riding and a spa day. I think we'll be doing the horse riding before soaking our muscles at the spa.
Over the last few weeks Edinburgh had been covered in snow, making it look even more pretty than usual. I am sorry to say we haven't been sledging, but we did go for a lovely long walk in the Pentland Hills and I only fell on my bottom once.

So, now after the good food, port, stilton, chocolate oranges and wine there is no surprise that my trousers and skirts are feeling a little tighter and snug than they were at the beginning of December.

We have had a lovely long, relaxing holiday and have a new year in front of us to fill with happy things. I am excited about starting on stripykat again and making lots of lovely bags and accessories from the gorgeous new fabrics that Rachel, my sister kindly brought over with her in her suitcase from the USA. These will be getting put to good use sharpish!

2009 was a fun packed year and thank you for all your support and kindness. stripykat has gone from strength to strength, from appearing in Vogue, being part of the Edinburgh Festival Craft fair, being in the Gifted Exhibition in the National Museum to re-launching the web site with a funky new logo and having lots of lovely people buying stripykat handmade bags and accessories. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I enjoy making them. So here's to 2010 and more exciting things to come.

Wishing you all a very happy, healthy year ahead.

Take care, until next time.
Katie
