The weather continues it's quest to encourage me to move to warmer climates. We have a snazzy thing on our computer's desk top that clearly demonstrates this with with the temperature in Edinburgh, St Louis and Toulouse. Let me tell you Toulouse is looking very toasty warm at the moment, compared to -2 in Edinburgh bbbbbrrrrrr!
The snow is really starting to annoy me now! Not to sound like a grumpy old woman or anything but it just isn't on. It's not looking pretty anymore, the ground is a mixture of slush, grit and big piles of snow from the snow plough. However, this doesn't really apply to anyone in the city centre, as I discovered on Saturday when Tim and I went in to watch the rugby in my shiny new wellies. Not even a tiny flake of snow to be seen, so I probably stuck out like a country bumpkin.
After watching Scotland get beaten again we wandered round the streets to have a look for something for my Great Aunt's birthday. Just what do you get a 87 year old who is always losing her glasses…..?
Contact lenses? No I had a better idea, with a sewing maching, tonnes of fabric and oodles of soft interlining to play with, I had to make a glasses case, and make it a bright one!!
It was actually something a number of people asked about when they saw the MP3 cases at the fair, so it got me thinking.
I made a prototype first of all, had a wee tweak and made a proper one and sent it to her. It went down very well indeed – a big thumbs up and she has not lost her glasses since = success. What better, style and practicality?!
Keep your eyes out for these on the site….
I finished off the nappy bag too this week, which will be winging it's way to Australia as we speak. I made it from some lovely bright oil cloth, waterproof lining and lots of soft interlining, so I am sure it's going to come in very handy. I got the ultra strong nylon strap from an American supplier, it's so strong it will allow the new mum carry her own weight in wet nappies, which will be fun!

There's new products appearing on stripykat all the time so check out the new hair bands and scarves. I have some gorgeous new fabrics that I will be putting to good use, so keep checking the site.
I had a lovely order from a gallery in Thurso, which, for those of you who don't know where it is, it's pretty much as far north as you can go in Scotland.
I am going to be busy over the coming weeks getting everything ready for Mother's Day, remember it's on the 14th March here in the UK so have a look on stripykat for the perfect gift for your mum.
Until next time, be good.
Katie
